The State of Qatar has informed the UN Security Council and the UN Secretary-General of a violation of Qatari sovereignty by the United Arab Emirates.
HE the Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Sheikha Alia Ahmed bin Saif al-Thani said in a message to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and to the President of the UN Security Council Ambassador Karel van Oosterom that a military transport aircraft CN-35 that belongs to the UAE violated the Qatari airspace on March 4.
The message described the incident as a severe violation of international law, highlighting the UAE's continued violation of Qatari sovereignty that could escalate tension in the region.
The State of Qatar renewed its call to the UN to take the necessary measures to preserve international peace and security by putting an end to the UAE's continued violations.
The message added that while the State of Qatar continues to exercise restraint in the face of such irresponsible and provocative actions, Qatar condemns any violation of its sovereignty, and that the country maintains the right to respond to any violations. The message highlighted that the country will do whatever is necessary to protect its borders and national security in line with the international law.
