António Tânger, Ambassador of Portugal to Qatar, on behalf of the Portuguese state recently visited Qatar National Library (QNL) to donate several Portuguese iconic books, translated into Arabic. The ambassador was received by Dr Sohair Wastawy, Executive Director of QNL. The executive director appreciated the support of Portugal in enriching the collection of QNL.
During the meeting, it was proposed to have an MoU between the Portuguese National Library and QNL to enhance bilateral co-operation in the fields of culture and education. It was also agreed that QNL would acquire relevant books in Portuguese, which is the fifth most spoken language in the world, for catering to the Portuguese and Brazilian communities living in Qatar.
