Strong winds are expected in some places today along with poor visibility due to blowing dust, the Qatar Met department has said.
Offshore areas, too, are likely to see strong winds and high seas towards the north by this afternoon, according to the weather report.
However, the weather office said in a tweet yesterday evening that the “dust was expected to start dissipating and visibility should improve gradually during the next 24 hours”.
The forecast for inshore areas says it will be hot during the day, with slight to blowing dust in some places at times. The wind speed may reach 25 knots in some areas by midday.
Offshore areas are also likely to see slightly dusty conditions today.
The wind speed may go up to 25 knots towards the north by noon, with the sea level rising to 7-8ft.
Visibility, meanwhile, may drop to 2km or less in some places at times.
Yesterday, the mercury level reached a high of 43C in Turayna, 42C in the Qatar University area, Sheehaniya and other places, and 41C in Abu Hamour, Mesaieed, Al Khor and other places.
The maximum temperature is expected to be 43C in Doha, Mesaieed, Wakrah and Al Khor today.
