Qatar attends global transport conference

The Global Sustainable Transport Conference, hosted by Turkmenistan started here yesterday.
Qatar is participating inthe  two-day conference with a delegation led by HE the Minister of Transport and Communication Jassim Seif Ahmed al-Sulaiti.
The conference, which was opened by Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow and the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, aims to bring together key stakeholders from governments, the UN, other international organisations, private sector and civil society, to participate in the dialogue that emphasises the nature of integrated and comprehensive sustainable transport and the multiple roles in supporting the achievement of sustainable development goals.
On the sidelines of the conference, bilateral and multilateral agreements will be signed.
Participants can enter the governmental agreement on Asian roads network and the governmental agreement on sea ports.
The conference also addresses topics related to all modes of transport -  road, rail, aviation, ferry, and maritime.
The Global Sustainable Transport Conference will also give particular focus for the concerns of developing countries, including least-developed countries, landlocked developing countries and small island developing states.
Participants will also discuss Vision Zero initiative for reaching a new era of traffic safety on the roads through the expansion of safe public transport systems.
