The latest instalment of the Souq Waqif Eid al-Fitr Festival started as the first wave of visitors flocked to the venue.
The festivities run until June 30.
The large, air-conditioned tent houses 23 booths, showcasing different types of skill and virtual reality games such as Haunted House Virtual Reality, Virtual Reality Shooting, Car Race Arcade and Alien Shooter Arcade.
Children can also win toy prizes at the booth of the Kick 'n Score, Ball and Bucket, Hook a Bag, Mega Buzz Wire, Pop a Balloon, Mini Golf, Teeth Knockout, Hook a Duck, Ring Toss, Roll the Ball, Shoot the Target, Spin the Wheel and Dice Roll, among others.
Visitors, especially children, will enjoy this year’s rides such as the go-cart mini course and kids’ electric choo-choo train. Other popular attractions are two bungee jump trampolines and inflatables, including the ‘Raging Bull’.
But the ‘biggest attraction’ this year, according to one of the festival staff, is the large mirror maze.
‘There is one area inside the mirror maze where people can take what I call ‘the ultimate selfie’ because it allows them to photograph as many as 10 reflections of themselves in one shot,’ he pointed out.
Aside from the Souq Waqif Eid al-Fitr Festival 2017, Souq Al Wakrah is also holding its own version of Eid festivities. In the first five says of Eid, Souq Al Wakrah will offer rides and other forms of entertainment from 5pm to 8pm.
Many malls around the country, such as The Mall along D-Ring Road, Lagoona Mall, Gulf Mall, Doha Festival City, Landmark, Al Khor Mall and Mall of Qatar, are also staging their own festivities.
The Qatar Tourism Authority, in partnership with QSports, opened on Sunday the latest Qatar Summer Festival at Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre.
The event runs until September 5 and features 87 games across 11 categories, in addition to several entertainment shows and sports activities such as the three-on-three basketball competition on a half court.
