Umm Slal Municipality has launched a campaign to remove abandoned vehicles from different places within its jurisdiction.
So far, the initiative has resulted in the removal of six abandoned vehicles, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment has said in a statement, noting that the campaign is still under way. 
In another development, Al Khor and Al Thakhira Municipality, in co-operation with the General Cleanliness Department at the MME, has launched a campaign to remove waste from a farm complex in Al Ghuwariyah. All such materials that had gathered in front of the complex have been removed. 
Al Wakrah Municipality's Health Control Section on Wednesday held a workshop on food safety in restaurants. The initiative aimed to raise awareness among workers at food establishments on issues related to food safety and health.
Meanwhile, the ongoing Local Dates Festival at Souq Waqif continues to see good sales, the statement notes. Around 11.5 tonnes of locally produced dates were sold on the sixth day of the event.
