Cabinet hails outcome of Emir's US visit

The Cabinet on Wednesday welcomed the results of the official visit of His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani to the US.
The Cabinet’s regular meeting was chaired by HE the Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani at the Emiri Diwan.
Following the meeting, HE the Minister of Justice and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Dr Hassan Lahdan Saqr al-Mohannadi said the Cabinet affirmed that His Highness the Emir's talks with US President Donald Trump on Tuesday as well as meetings with a number of senior US officials, have cemented the growing bilateral relations between both countries. 
“The meetings also opened up new horizons and advanced the established strategic co-operation between both countries, especially in the field of their joint efforts to combat terrorism,” it was stated.
The Cabinet expressed confidence that in light of the results of this important visit and in light of the continuous strategic dialogue between both countries, the Qatari-US relations will soon witness further positive developments in various fields, that benefits the peoples, peace, stability and security, both regionally and internationally.
With regard to the tragic situation in Syria, the Cabinet strongly condemned the use of chemical weapons by the Syrian regime last Saturday in Douma in Eastern Ghouta, which led to the death of tens of innocent victims.
The Cabinet expressed deep regret at the inability of the UN Security Council to provide protection to the Syrians from the brutal regime attacks that they have been subjected to for more than seven years.
The Cabinet called on the international community and the UN Security Council in particular to shoulder its moral and legal responsibility and take the required measures to protect the Syrian people, and hold the perpetrators of the crime accountable and subject them to international criminal justice.
