A high-level delegation from Qatar headed by Mohamed Ali al-Mannai, president of the Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA), is participating in the 18th Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR) in Geneva, Switzerland.
The four-day symposium, held under the theme ‘New Regulatory Frontiers’, is witnessing the participation of more than 600 professionals and around 100 speakers from around the world. The event concludes today.
The GSR is an annual event organised by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), connecting ITU-D sector members, administrations of ITU member states, national regulatory authorities, regional and international organisations and ITU-affiliated academic and research institutes.
The symposium is hosting interactive panel discussions and presentations on thematic events around the ‘Global Dialogue on Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things and Cybersecurity – Policy and
regulatory challenges and opportunities’.
The GSR also includes high-level panel discussions about digital transformation, digital identity and protecting personal data. This is in addition to the Regional Regulatory Associations meeting and the Chief Regulatory Officials meeting.
“The ICT sector on a global level is evolving at incredible speed. In line with this, CRA participates in events like GSR, which serves as an opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences with other regulators, policy and decision makers, industry experts and stakeholders around the world, which will help the ICT sector evolve in Qatar,”
al-Mannai said.
On the sidelines of the symposium, he has held high-level meetings with Houlin Zhao, secretary-general of the ITU; François Rancy, director, ITU Radiocommunication Bureau; and Brahima Sanou, director of the ITU Telecommunication Development
