'Competitive fares' for taxi users as Karwa waives fees

Mowasalat has said its decision to waive booking and technology service charges for Karwa taxis "is based on market needs and to provide competitive fares to taxi users".
The waiver came into effect on Sunday and is a promotion from the company, according to Mowasalat.
"Booking charges and technology service charges through the taxi unified call centre and Karwa App are waived from July 15, 2018," the company said in a press statement.
"Karwa taxi customers can book taxis round the clock through the Karwa App and by calling the call centre from the comfort of their location — be it the home, a shopping mall, an entertainment zone or the workplace," the statement notes, stressing that there will be no waiting time and delay in hailing taxis on the road, even under severe weather conditions.
"The company, as a promotion, has waived the booking and technology service charges and the final metered fare will be without these two cost elements," Mowasalat adds.
The Karwa taxi application includes a facility for booking a taxi or limousine, and "operates through the whole eco-system" under the unified call centre.
In addition, Mowasalat has carried out taxi deployment improvements in terms of efficiency, policies and process to ultimately achieve “customer satisfaction”, whereby taxi users can book and track their trip through the implemented GPS tracking system.
Besides, the metered rates are charged in accordance with the published tariff and there is no preferential price or search price system.
The customer receipt will show the total fare with the breakup elements.
Mowasalat has said the company will continue to focus on developing the application through updates and improvements to extend its services in order to meet the needs of the transportation sector in Qatar.
"Our taxis are luxury sedans complying with unified taxi standards as stipulated by the regulating authority, and are replaced in a five-year period on an average," the statement pointed out. 
"Our drivers are trained with internationally accredited training programmes and practical demonstration through safety equipment and simulator to have a feel of driving on Qatar roads. Our driver employees are recruited after fulfilling basic criteria pertaining to driving licence, English proficiency and literacy. In addition, they go through training to get familiarisation with Qatar's roads, traditions and customs."
