Qatar Fuel (Woqod) opened a new petrol station in Old Slata on Wednesday as part of its ongoing expansion plan to serve all areas around the country. The Old Slata branch brings Woqod’s total petrol station network to 65.

Woqod CEO Saad Rashid al-Muhannadi said, “We are pleased to open a new petrol station in Old Slata. Woqod aspires to expand its petrol station network in the country to meet the rising demand for petroleum products and achieve the goal of providing customers with access to best-in-class products and services at their convenience and comfort.

“Woqod will also announce the opening of new petrol stations during this month to meet the fuel and energy needs of the country. Members of the Woqod team would like to extend their gratitude to the all governmental and private entities concerned, which contributed to the completion of this project.”

Old Slata petrol station is spread over an area of 3,500sq m and has four lanes with eight dispensers that will serve Old Slata and its neighbourhood. In addition, the number of dispensers was increased to enhance the quality of the service and reduce vehicle congestion at the petrol stations.

Al-Muhannadi said the new petrol station offers round-the-clock services to residents and includes a Sidra convenience store, sale of LPG cylinders, and sale of gasoline and diesel products for light vehicles.

He added that Woqod is currently working in the construction of 30 petrol station projects, most of which are expected to be operational this year. He said Woqod currently has seven new stations in the tendering phase and 10 stations in the design phase. He assured the opening of two new fixed petrol stations in Hamad International Airport and Foxhill (Luwsail) this month.

Al-Muhannadi said Woqod, in furtherance of customer’s satisfaction and the decrease of traffic congestions in petrol stations, is currently working on the dismantling of diesel dispensers in Wadi Albanat, Bufassaila, and Rowdat Al Hamama petrol stations, and will replace them with petrol dispensers.

He further said Woqod is replacing the dismantled diesel dispensers with three mobile diesel stations and will be placed in some areas near the three abovementioned petrol stations.

“As part of its strategic expansion plan, Woqod is targeting to achieve a total of 120 fuel stations by the end of 2020,” al-Muhannadi added.
