The Cabinet’s regular meeting, chaired by HE the Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani, hailed the speech of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, at the opening of the 47th ordinary session of the Advisory Council on Tuesday.
Following the meeting, which was held at the Amiri Diwan, HE the Minister of Justice and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Dr Issa Saad al-Jafali al-Nuaimi said the Cabinet lauded the visions, ideas, directives and policies the Amir’s speech contained, as well as the positions it identified towards various regional and international issues.
The Cabinet said that the Amir’s assertion on the strength and safety of the country’s economy and its continuous development and remarkable achievements despite the unjust siege and the plans currently being implemented, are a reason for being proud of the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir and a source of pride for all citizens who stand united behind their leadership.
It also stressed that the Amir’s speech, which contained useful guidance and lofty values and meaning, and which called for work ethics and performing it in the best way and with a sense of duty and responsibility towards society and the State, will guide national action in all fields.
The Prime Minister urged the ministers to act in accordance with the directives included in the speech of the Amir with continuous and accurate follow-up to implement them in order to ensure compliance with work ethics and good performance in all the State’s entities.
He welcomed the new ministers and wished them success in their duties, expressing thanks and appreciation to the former ministers for their efforts in serving the country and the citizen.
The Cabinet then reviewed topics on its meeting’s agenda as following:
The Cabinet approved a draft decision to determine the periods of registration in the Commercial Register.
Under the provisions of the draft decision, the period of registration in the Commercial Register shall be for not less than one year and a maximum of five years for commercial companies and individual establishments.
The registration can be renewed for similar periods.
The branches of non-Qatari companies and commercial representative offices shall be registered within the period allowed for the company or representative office to exercise its activity in the State, and that the duration of registration or its renewal shall be within the duration of the company.
The Cabinet approved the formation of a national committee to prepare the initial national report of the State and discuss it before the Human Rights Committee on the implementation of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR) and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
The Cabinet took the necessary actions to ratify the Multilateral Competent Authority Agreement on the exchange country-by-country reports.
The Cabinet also approved a draft agreement on the Promotion and Protection of Mutual Investments between the governments of Qatar and Somalia, a draft agreement on the promotion and protection of mutual investments between the governments of Qatar and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and draft memorandum of understanding for legal co-operation between the Ministry of Justice of Qatar and the Ministry of Justice of Vietnam.
The Cabinet reviewed the results of the 102nd ordinary session of the Economic and Social Council of the League of Arab States at the ministerial level (Cairo, September 2018). The Cabinet then took the appropriate decision thereon.
