Aspire Zone has announced the signing of a collaboration agreement with Wega, one of the world’s leading e-payment systems, to organise the first multi-game eSports World Cup tournament ever in the Middle East, the Aspire Wega World Cup.
Starting in 2019, with online and offline qualifying rounds running all over the world, the first edition of the eSports World Cup will lead to a live final competition in Doha in 2022, on the threshold of the official FIFA World Cup kick-off.
This alliance between two major companies from sports and new technology industries will offer a unique opportunity to the actual 2.3bn eSports players across the globe to compete in a four-year competition on an international scale.
“We are always looking for new concepts and supporting innovative events, and we believe that this partnership will be an additional platform through which we can highlight Qatar’s ability to organise international events,” Aspire Zone’s Chief Marketing Officer Mohammed Mubarak al-Kuwari said, adding, “We are excited to connect with more than 2.3bn players from all over the world to participate in a tournament expected to be the largest in the world at the level of sports.”
Commenting on the signing of the agreement with Aspire Zone, Patrick Moyner, President of Wega expressed pride to launch this e-gaming tournament in partnership with Aspire Zone.
He said, “As a specialist in financial technology that provides an innovative digital platform, we believe that investing in a market where the number of players is expected to reach 6bn players over the next 10 years is a strategic decision.
“We hope that our technology and services will significantly enhance the overall experience of the players and increase the revenues of this industry.”Last updated: December 26 2018 08:03 AM
