Strong winds, dusty conditions and a drop in temperature are expected in the country on Tuesday, the weather forecast shows, and there is also a chance of light, scattered rain.
The Qatar Met department has also issued a warning for thundery rain in offshore areas in the early hours of the day, followed by windy conditions and high seas by the afternoon.
The detailed forecast for inshore areas includes a warning for strong winds in some places by the afternoon as well as poor visibility. Southeasterly-southwesterly winds will blow at 5-10 knots before becoming northwesterly by the afternoon and blowing at a speed of 10-20 knots. The wind speed may go up to 26 knots after midday.
Slight to blowing dust has been forecast in some areas at times along with partly cloudy conditions, with visibility dropping to 3km or less occasionally. There is also a chance of light, scattered rain and it will be cold by night.
Offshore, southeasterly winds will blow at 8-18 knots, reaching a high of 25 knots during the thundershowers and becoming northwesterly by the afternoon, with the speed ranging from 15-25 knots.
Slightly dusty and cloudy conditions are expected in these areas, and there is a chance of scattered rain that may turn thundery at times, the weather report states. The sea level may rise to 8ft by the afternoon.
A minimum temperature of 16C is expected on Tuesday in Abu Samra, while Doha will see a low of 20C. The maximum, on the other hand, will range from 24C in Wakrah, Mesaieed, Al Khor and Dukhan to 29C in Abu Samra. Doha and Ruwais will see a maximum of 26C and 25C, respectively.
The maximum temperature is expected to drop from Monday’s levels at a number of places. These include Abu Samra (31C on Monday), Ruwais (27C on Monday) and Dukhan (26C on Monday). A number of other also saw the mercury level touch or cross the 30C-mark on Monday, such as Jumayliyah (31C) and Sheehaniya, Shehaimiya, Batna and Karana (30C).
Also Monday, a minimum temperature of 16C was recorded in Abu Samra, while Doha saw a low of 20C.
