HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani witnessed at the Sheraton Doha Hotel on Monday morning the signing of a number of memorandums of understanding (MoUs) between the National Tourism Council, Qetaifan Projects Company (a subsidiary of Katara Hospitality), Rixos Hotels, Qatar Airways and a number of players in world tourism.
On the occasion, HE Chairman of the Board of Directors of Katara Hospitality Sheikh Nawaf bin Jassim bin Jabor Al-Thani said that these agreements and partnerships represent Katara's commitment to invest in the development of the tourism industry and the promotion of the hospitality sector in the State of Qatar where investment in the tourism sector in all its forms is seen as an aspect of effective investment which should be taken care of as one of the largest sectors contributing to the global GDP.
For his part, HE the Secretary-General of Qatar National Tourism Council and CEO of Qatar Airways Akbar Al Baker expressed pleasure to host such travel packages for travel agents from around the world to Qatar and to help them learn about the country's unique tourism experiences and products, noting that there are increasing demands for Qatar as a global destination for tourists.
Qetaifan Island North project is part of Lusail city with seven beaches. The island has an area of 1.3 million square meters.
