The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced the closure of the roundabout at the intersection of Al-Diwan and Palestine streets (known as Saida Roundabout). Traffic between the roundabout and Al-Diwan Intersection, as well as part of Al-Rayyan Road, will be diverted to a parallel temporary road with two lanes in each direction, in addition to a right-turn towards Souq Waqif, Ashghal has said in a statement.

The closure, implemented in co-ordination with the General Directorate of Traffic, will start on Friday and continue for three months.

During this period, a part of Palestine Street will also be closed at its intersection with Al-Diwan Street. Traffic heading from Al-Diwan Street to Palestine Street can use Al-Firdous Street to Muslim bin Aqeel Street and onto Palestine Street, the statement explains.

On March 8, traffic on Qala’at Al-Askar Street (leading to the Corniche) will also be diverted onto a parallel temporary road with two lanes in each direction, with a right turn towards Al-Khaleej Intersection, as shown on the attached map. The diversion aims to enable expansion and upgrading works on Al-Diwan Intersection and the installation of new traffic lights as part of the A-Ring Road Development Project, which will contribute to enhancing traffic movement and reducing congestion in the areas surrounding A-Ring Road, Ashghal has said.

The authority will install road signs advising motorists of the diversion, and has requested all road users to abide by the speed limit and follow the road signs to ensure their safety.
