His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani attended on Wednesday the final of the annual purebred Arabian Camel Festival for the Sword of HH the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, which took place at Al Shahaniya racetrack.
The Amir awarded the winners of the eight main events for camels older than seven years as well as the winners of the four main races (open races) for the camels older than seven years owned by Their Excellencies sheikhs, and were given golden trophies.
Al Shahaniya camels dominated the four races, winning the golden sword, golden shalfa and two golden daggers. The Amir also awarded the winners of the four main races for camels older than seven years owned by tribe members and were the silver sword, silver shalfa and silver dagger. He also awarded the owner of Al Sailiya camels Abdullah Said al-Aida. The races and awards ceremony was attended by Their Excellencies the sheikhs, tribe members and fans of the sport.
