Mercury will reach Perihelion, which is the point in its orbit where the planet is closest to the sun, at 10.18am in Doha on Friday, Qatar Calendar House (QCH) has said.
At this point, Mercury will be around 46mn km from the sun's centre. In a statement, QCH astronomy expert Dr Beshir Marzouk said Mercury last reached the Perihelion point on February 25 and would do so again on August 20.
He informed that people in Qatar will not have the chance to see Mercury on Friday because it will be "very close to the Sun". Moreover, the setting time of Mercury in the Qatar sky will be 6.35pm, while the sunset time will be 6.18pm.
