Thousands of Qataris and residents performed the Eid prayers on Tuesday at various mosques and yards around the country.
Most people were keen to reach the designated places of worship before 5am. The Traffic and Security patrols of the Ministry of Interior maintained intensive presence to regulate the entry and exit of people and vehicles and avoid congestion on the roads leading to the mosques and prayer yards.
Accordingly, most people pointed out that they enjoyed a hassle-free journey to and back from the mosques and prayer yards. In addition, many people preferred to go for the nearest places of worship to their houses to avoid the trouble of finding parking space.
A joyous mood prevailed as the faithful wore new clothes and different types of perfumes. A good number of people were also seen accompanying their children to the prayers, who looked very happy in their new clothes despite getting up very early in the morning to start the Eid celebrations with prayers.
"The children enjoy it and consider it as the best part of the day before exchanging family visits with the related traditions of giving monetary gifts to the youngsters. Eid has always been a source of joy for all in particular the youngsters," pointed out Ali, a Qatari man.
A few days ahead of Eid, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment's cleaning and public services teams exerted great efforts to keep the places of worship in the best state of cleanliness. Also, after the conclusion of the prayers the teams started to do the cleaning.
Though people retreated indoors after the prayers because of the hot and humid weather, the afternoon saw a good turnout on the beaches and public parks. The buses going to and from Al Ghanim Bus Station in Doha to the Industrial Area and the places of expatriate labourers' accommodations also had good occupancy.
