The Emergency Department at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) treated about 781 cases on the second day of Eid al-Fitr.
The Ambulance Service at HMC attended to 210 cases while the paediatric Emergcy Centres ( PEC) treated about 1,450 patients. However, all the cases were simple routine ones with no critical cases reported from any of the departments.
“The Emergency Department at Hamad General Hospital had 535 cases which included 352 male and 183 female patients. There were no serious or critical cases and most of them were simple or routine ones. Seven of the patients were admitted at the hospital while the rest of them were sent home after the treatment,” said Dr Galal Alessai, consultant, Emergency Medicine and vice chairman of Corporate Affairs at HMC Emergency Department.
Emergency Department at Wakra Hospital had treated a total of 246 patients with 144 male and 102 female patients. “All the cases at Wakra Hospital were also normal routine cases related to digestive and respiratory diseases. Among them three were admitted and others were treated and sent back home,” added Dr Alessai.
The PECs received about 1,450 cases on Wednesday all across the country. Among them Al-Sadd centre recorded 888 patients; Al-Rayyan Centre 323; Airport Centre 181; Al-Daayen 55 and Al Shamal Centre 17. Most of the cases were related to general or minor ones and there were no critical cases. The rush at the PECs was similar to any other ordinary day and at some centres it was lesser than the normal days.
The Ambulance Service received 210 cases including four traffic accident cases. About 98 ambulances were deployed on the second day all across the country. The major areas, the ambulances had covered were Al-Wakrah, Souq Waqif, Katara, Sealine beach and Simaisma beach among other places. In addition, the entertainment areas as well as malls were also monitored by the service.
