The Advisory Council and Portugal's Assembly of the Republic signed Thursday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at the assembly's headquarters.  The MoU was signed by HE the Speaker of the Advisory Council Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud and and President of the Portuguese Assembly Eduardo Ferro Rodrigues. 
Under the MoU, the Advisory Council and the Portuguese Assembly agreed to establish partnership and promote relations that connect both sides based on principles of equality and mutual trust. 
In addition they agreed to establish two parliamentary groups of friendship, exchange information, and work on unifying positions of common interest on topics in international conferences, meetings and forums. 
They also agreed on mutual support in appointing leadership positions of international parliamentary organisations and exchanging expertise in various fields, such as legislative work and internal organisation.
This came during a meeting held between both parties where they reviewed parliamentary relations between the Advisory Council and the Portuguese Assembly. They also reviewed means to develop them and discussed a number of topics of common interest. 
The meeting was attended by several members of the Advisory Council as well as Qatar's ambassador the Portuguese Republic Saad bin Ali al-Binali al-Mohannadi. 
Meanwhile, on the sidelines of his official visit to Portugal, HE al-Mahmoud also met the Chairman of Twelve Plus Group, Duarte Pacheco. The group includes the parliaments of the European countries, Australia, Canada and New Zealand. 
The meeting reviewed the parliamentary relations between Qatar and the Twelve Plus Group, ways of supporting and strengthening them, in addition to a number of issues of common concern.
The meeting was attended by members of the Advisory Council and the Assembly of Portugal and Qatar's ambassador.
