The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), represented by Umm Salal Municipality and the general cleanliness department, removed around 25,236 tonnes of waste, 3,680 discarded and damaged tyres and 250 carcasses of dead animals in the second quarter of 2019 in various parts of the municipality.
This was informed by the MME through a statement recently.
In another statement, the MME said Al Daayen Municipality's cleanliness section carried out an intensive clean-up campaign within its jurisdiction last month.

The campaign resulted in the removal of 2,340 tonnes of waste as well as 243 damaged tyres. This was in 50 batches over three weeks since the launch of the campaign at the start of August, the MME said.
Equipment and vehicles from Al Daayen Municipality were used in removing and transporting the waste to protect the local environment from potential harm and safeguard the health of inhabitants, the statement noted.
Meanwhile, the MME's general cleanliness department cleaned public facilities on the Al Khor and Al Thakhira beaches by deploying specialised teams that worked round the clock.
In another development, Al Wakrah Municipality's municipal control department removed encroachments from State-owned property to the west of Al Mashaf. The encroachment included an unauthorised wall and buildings, the MME added.
Also, the General Cleanliness Department, in co-operation with Al Shamal Municipality, removed the carcass of a dolphin that had washed ashore on Al Ghariyah beach and shifted it to the designated site. The beach was also cleaned of garbage that had accumulated there.
