Haidan bags Medium Tour as Hathab begins

Hussain Saeed Haidan bagged the Medium Tour title as the third edition of the Longines Hathab Equestrian Tour kicked off at the Al Shaqab Indoor Arena yesterday. Haidan astride a 14-year-old bay Belucci Van ‘T Vleminkhof finished as the fastest combination to open their season in style. 
Jaber Rashid al-Amri was runner-up with Canavaro De Muze (ET), while Mohamed Hazim Abara came third with Ambre De Beaufour.  Meanwhile, The Top won the Medium Tour team title, ahead of Al Shaqab. Lusail settled for third place.
In the Small Tour 100/115cm class, Hamad Nasser al-Qadi emerged triumphant with eight-year-old stallion Hugo Z in a time of 19.28 secs.  Abdulaziz Ghanim al-Nuaimi (Jalieny Diamant) was second, while Khalifa Abdulla al-Khaldi took third sport
The annual equestrian series is organised and hosted jointly by Qatar Equestrian Federation (QEF) and Al Shaqab, member of Qatar Foundation. The series is spread across seven months, from October to April. The finale will be hosted at Al Shaqab’s state-of-the-art equestrian facilities in April 2020. The family-friendly event is open to the public, and admission is free.
The riding disciplines include showjumping and dressage, and comprise five competition categories. Staying true to Qatar’s vision to promote sports among its youth, the categories target various age groups starting – with the Future Riders category for children aged 6 and above, up to the Senior (big tour) group, for individuals 21 and older. 
Longines, ExxonMobil, and Salam International are the main partners of the series. The competition is open to Qataris and residents of Qatar, and a total of QR1.5 million is awarded in prize money.
