The Ministry of Public Health on Sunday explained that the preliminary results, of investigation done by the medical team at the Emergency Department at Hamad Medical Corporation, on the causes of the death of two children, showed the possibility of exposure to a chemical or insecticide, the official Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported on Sunday.
Gulf Times had reported earlier about the death of the Indian siblings from the southern state of Kerala on Friday. Parents found the elder child, aged three, unresponsive in the morning. He was taken to hospital but declared dead upon arrival.
Meanwhile the younger child, a seven month old girl, also developed complications and passed away at hospital around 10am on Friday. Both parents also had developed similar symptoms but were under treatment and discharged on Sunday. The burial of the children will take place in Doha on Monday, sources said.
According to the QNA report, the Ministry stated that the preliminary results of the medical tests, and after reviewing the medical history of cases and medical examination, showed that the children were suspected of being exposed to a chemical or insecticide.
The Ministry confirmed that it had not received any reports of food poisoning through the hotline of the Department of Transitional Disease Control, indicating that until the completion of the final measures from all sides, precautionary measures were taken at the family's residence to ensure the health and safety of all, QNA added.
