Colombian singer and philanthropist Shakira has visited Qatar as a guest of the Education Above All Foundation, attending the WISE Summit 2019, Qatar Foundation (QF) announced on Thursday.
The star, who is also a Unicef Goodwill Ambassador and whose humanitarian and advocacy work focuses on universal education and early childhood development, also learned about QF’s efforts and initiatives in the fields of education, science and research, and community development during a visit to Education City.
Shakira’s philanthropic work has included founding the Barefoot Foundation, which aims to make education available to every child; the Pies Descalzos Foundation, which focuses on improving children’s education, nutrition, and health; and the ALAS Foundation, which support the implementation of integrated early childhood public policies.
