Al Hilal Saudi Football Club, the Asian Champions, have arrived in Doha for FIFA Club World Cup 2019.
The club will begin their campaign against Tunisia’s Esperance Sportive de Tunis, the African Champions, tomorrow in the quarter-final round at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium. The winners of tomorrow’s match at Al Sadd’s home will face Brazil’s Flamengo, the champion of Copa Libertadores for South American Clubs.
Nawaf al-Abed joined Al Hilal as a substitute for Salman al-Faraj, who sustained an injury after his participation with the Saudi national team in the 24th Arabian Gulf Cup.
Al Hilal qualified for the Club World Cup 2019 after winning the AFC Champions League last month, beating Japan’s Urawa.
“I am proud to be here with my team in the Club World Cup. We will be among the best in the world and compete with the six continental champions. We will do our best in this important international tournament. We have prepared well to achieve our desired goal,” Al Hilal coach Razvan Lucescu said upon his team’s arrival in Doha.
