Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman met here on Thursday with HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani.
At the outset of the meeting, HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs conveyed the greetings of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani to the Sultan of Oman, and the Amir's wishes of more progress and prosperity to the Omani people.
For his part, the Sultan of Oman, entrusted HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs to convey his greetings to the Amir, wishing him good health and happiness and the Qatari people continuing development and prosperity.
Talks during the meeting focused on bilateral relations and means to bolster them, in addition to a host of regional and international issues of common concern.
Oman's Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah and Qatar's Minister of Finance HE Ali Shareef al-Emadi attended the meeting.
Envoy stresses exemplary bilateral ties
Meanwhile, Qatar's Ambassador to Oman Shaikh Jassim bin Abdulrahman al-Thani stressed that Omani-Qatari relations have always been deep and strong. Coordination between the two countries in all fields in addition to convergence of views on regional and international issues have contributed to further strengthening these relations, he added.
In a statement to Oman News Agency (ONA), the ambassador stressed that the relations between the two brotherly countries are exemplary thanks to the keen attention of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman and His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani.
He said that the relations between Muscat and Doha are characterised by more openness and proximity, considering the natural resources, advanced industries, and strong economies they both enjoy, in addition to their geographical proximity and the strong historical ties that unite the two countries.
On the role of the Omani-Qatari committee, the envoy indicated that it has been working to give a boost to a number of projects that have been discussed in the past period. The committee is working on four projects in several areas, including food security, tourism, manufacturing, and assembly, in addition to utilising raw materials.
