President of the Republic of Tunisia Kais Saied praised the treasures and collections of the Qatar National Library (QNL), including rare and valuable texts and manuscripts, rare maps, old books and others, stressing that they are invaluable as they increase in value over time.
This came as the Tunisian President and the accompanying delegation visited the QNL on Monday.
After the visit, President Kais Saied said that the most beautiful times in his life were those he spent among books, highlighting his constant joy of reading books, and that he might read them again and again to discover new things and ideas in the same book, a matter which reflects the value of reading and thinking. He lauded the efforts of those in charge of the QNL and their cultural role, whishing the QNL more brilliance and success.
During the visit, the Tunisian President got acquainted with the architecture of the QNL and its most important books in various sciences, arts and literature. He was also briefed on the Heritage Library and the Qatar corner, which contains aspects of important documents on the history of the State of Qatar.
HE Minister of State and President of the QNL Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari presented a detailed explanation on the QNL's cultural role as well as on the digital library that Qatar library provides to researchers from all over the world.
The Tunisian President was accompanied during his visit to the QNL by HE Minister of Culture and Sports Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali, HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Tunisia Saad bin Nasser Al Humaidi, Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia to the State of Qatar Sami Al Saadi, and an official delegation.
