The attendees were introduced to artworks by the participating artists who explained the themes of their works.
The art exhibition is the outcome of the first preliminary session for the creative community in Qatar, which was held in collaboration with AlHosh Gallery to organise educational sessions and strengthen collaborative efforts to increase awareness on the global issue of modern-day slavery and human trafficking, a press statement noted.
The exhibition encompasses art pieces and installations by 18 artists from Qatar. They shed the light on human trafficking and slavery matters to educate generations through art and raise their awareness on one of the major topics in our modern era.
Dr al-Mahmoud said, “We are honoured to launch this art exhibition, which comes as an outcome of our collaboration with Msheireb Museums. It aims to shed the light on human trafficking, which is a very important cause in the world. We have a common responsibility to tackle these social challenges in all ways. Art is a very powerful tool to convey our messages to the community. We thank all artists for their effort and look forward to more events in the future.”
Dr Ali added, “Following the preliminary sessions and the workshop for the artists at Msheireb Museums, we are honoured to inaugurate the art exhibition that marks the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery organised by AlHosh Gallery, in collaboration the National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking. This exhibition reflects the collaborative effort of the national entities to bring the attention of the community to such causes. Art remains the best effective tool to talk about human stories and social causes. It has sustainable impact on the hearts and minds of the audience and provokes their emotions to take the necessary action to tackle such challenges."
The workshop and exhibition reflect the common effort of the NCCHT and Msheireb Museums to tackle the common challenges of human trafficking and raise awareness about this important issue, the statement adds.
